Golfing the Islands of the Pacific Northwest
How do the islands of Hawaii compare to the islands of Washington? Let's compare...
Many travelers might prefer the names O'ahu; Moloka'i; Maui; Kaua'i; or Hawai'i. Some people enjoy the hustle and bustle of Oahu, which offers just about every activity under the sun. Others prefer the quiet solitude and raw beauty of Kauai. For the true Hawaiian experience, you really need to visit more than one island to get a sense of Hawaii's unique variety. The golf courses on these islands are fantastic but...
These four senior golfers decided to save a few dollars and travel by ferry instead of airplane. The names Orcas; Whidbey; Lopez; San Juan; and Bainbridge may only conjure up thoughts of rain clouds, but between the raindrops there is world-class whale watching, kayaking, biking, and hiking. Oh, and by the way, besides the aforementioned, there are plenty of 9-hole golf courses to fill the rest of our days.
Let's see what each course has to offer...
Tapps Island Golf Course - Lake Tapps, WA
San Juan Golf and Tennis Club - Friday Harbor, WA
Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club - Bainbridge Island, WA
Orcas Island Golf Course - Eastsound, WA
Williams Nine at Meadow Park - Tacoma, WA
Blue Boy West Golf Course - Monroe, WA
Deception Pas Golf Center - Oak Harbor, WA
Camas Prairie Park - Port Townsand, WA
Fairways Less Travelled
As we travel America’s highways and byways discovering 9-hole gems, our goal is to golf the fairways less traveled. Along the way we have found many outstanding courses (Ace) and a few that fall at the other end of the spectrum (Double Bogey). We have experienced what big cities have to offer, and also how small towns work together to support their 9-hole courses. The bottom line is to have fun, explore all areas of this country, and meet awesome people. We have assembled a number of trips that feature golf but also include other activities. Enjoy the journey!
Where in the World are We?
As we golf the fairways less traveled, we invite you to join us in our travels. If you’re interested in playing with the Always Time for 9 team, please feel free to contact me. Following is our tentative schedule for 2025. As we get closer to these dates, we will share specifics about where and when we will be playing.
