Santa Ana GC, Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. Land of Enchantment!

Standing on the first tee, you find yourself surrounded by the Jemez Mountains to the west, the Sangre de Christos to the north, and the Sandia Mountains loom to the east – welcome to The Land of Enchantment. As Steve and I started our round on the Star Course, it felt more like The Land of Bewitchment. Hole #9 – Par 3, 134 yards. “The Ant Hill”

We wanted to play golf on August 21, 2017 but thought the Solar Eclipse would interfere with our day. We decided to drive across the border into Canada so we wouldn’t be bothered by this event. One of the towns on the route is Birmingham and it just happens to have two 9-hole golf course. Couldn’t ask for a better pairing, right? Read more →

Wawenock Golf Club – Walpole, ME

This clubhouse greets you as you enter the driveway. I feel good about this course.

“Wawenock” is the name of one of the bands or subgroups of the Penobscot tribe, located in what is now Maine. The name Wawenock means “round island” in the Penobscot language. I have to admit, every time I hear that name I think of Donald Penobscot from M*A*S*H. I’m not sure about the “island” part but there is plenty of water around this area. I do understand the “round” reference because Read more →
