It was Friday at 1 pm. The facility was jam-packed. The Grubhouse was congested; the bar was swarming with pre and post round golfers; and the line was growing with eager golfers at Hole #1. Remember, this was a weekday at 1 pm.
Let’s step back in time a few hours. As we approached the course, the large sign read – Eat, Drink, Play – Golf Reimagined. I thought that was interesting since I usually do the opposite – Play, Drink, Eat. Have I performed these three things in the wrong order all these years?
At 11 am, Mrs. Always Time for 9 and I entered the clubhouse which was sparsely populated, so we were able to spend time with Eoin, the Director of Golf, and immediately secure a tee time with no waiting or reservation. So let’s get out and play the 3’s Golf & Grubhouse and see how they Reimagined Golf.

Shot Value: Being a par 3 course, there are not any risk/reward shots, however there are enough angles to test your accuracy with irons and putter.
Design Variety: There are three sets of tees: Tippy Tees (1715 yards); 3’s Tees (1393); and the Fun Tees (942). We played the 3’s Tees and the holes range from 72 to 149 yards. There are no water hazards, but plenty of sand…and the “fun” part – a plethora of hills and uneven lies. Each hole is a replica of a hole designed by a distinguished golf architect such as Pete and Alice Dye, Jay Moorish, Robert Muir Graves, Bob Cupp, and more.

Memorability: It’s the whole package! It’s Golf Reimagined! There is something for everyone – Eat – Drink – Play. You choose the order!
Conditioning: For a February round, the greens were in excellent shape. The dormant Bermuda fairways were golden in color, but will turn brilliant green when spring arrives. During the winter you tee off mats, but they are removed in April.

Ambience: Eoin and his staff were excellent. Their website states…3’s is a relaxed destination where you can play casual golf, grab a bite to eat, hang out with friends, and meet folks.
Rating – Uncategorized (I don’t rate par 3 courses): The 3’s consists of a 12-hole par 3 course; the 18-hole Humps and Bumps Putting Green; and the Grubhouse which is part diner, bar, and shop. The entire facility lights up until 10:45pm, so you can Eat, Drink, and Play long into the evening. It’s just a fun place to hang out with friends!

So let’s fast-forward ahead (or back?) to 1 pm after our round. In the hour and 30 minutes we were on the course, the place had come alive with eating, drinking, and playing – Golf Reimagined.
P.S. We had traveled the two hours from Charlotte to Greenville, SC because the next 3’s Golf & Grubhouse will be opening in Indian Trail, NC in the summer of 2026. This will be a great place for our 55+ community to party like it’s 1968!

Greenville is such a fun city to visit with a great downtown area and many choices of restaurants and walks along the Reedy River. Our stay was complete with an excellent Bed and Breakfast which is just a short walk to downtown – Pettigru Place.
